Authority cleans up on dog fouling

DOG fouling fines have been issued across Northumberland.

Officials from Northumberland County Council issued 11 fines in a week to people failing to clean up after their pets — the same number as was previously issued in a year. It brings the total this year to 41.

Those caught face an on-the-spot fine of £75 and if they don’t pay within 14 days they will be prosecuted and could be hit with a £1,000 fine.

Sting operations were carried out at various dog fouling hot spots, including in Lynemouth, Pegswood and Widdrington Station.
