A council website is back up and running.
Staff at Morpeth Town Council discovered that the online facility had been targeted in April when they could not update the site.
Due to its vulnerability, only the home page was accessible. This was done to protect the council and other groups using the site.
As well as going back online, the website has added security features and it has been updated to make it mobile responsive.
Council clerk Gillian Turner said that even if the attack did not happen, a review of the site was going to take place this year under normal procedures. It will be carried out in the near future.
A total of £1,400 was allocated from the authority’s contingencies to get it up and running again and for the new features. This was agreed by members of the finance and general purposes committee at a meeting last month.
