Ponteland Town Council will soon trial an appointments system for part of the working week.
Clerk Kath Mavin told members at a meeting last week that at the moment, she will have a face-to-face conversation with those who go along to the authority’s offices at Meadowfield either immediately or as soon as possible.
However, if she sees a few people or the conversation with one or two goes on for a lengthy period of time, it has an impact on the amount of work she can do that day.
“The recommendation is that we trial a system for three months where appointments need to be made on some days and the open system will remain in place on the other days,” said Mrs Mavin.
“On the appointment days, we will still see residents immediately in an emergency situation.”
Councillors approved this recommendation.
