Awards for Josh’s vehicle

A FORMER Ponteland High School student has been given a quartet of prestigious accolades thanks to his remote control rescue vehicle.

The tracked M.A.R.V was devised by Josh Newton. It has been designed to reach trapped people in disaster zones and give them means of communication, water and basic food supplies until they can be rescued.

After building a working prototype, he has received the Rotary Young Technologist of the Year, Big Bang Engineering and Technology Excellence, Big Bang North East Personal Achievement winner and Young Engineer for Britain Engineering Excellence awards.
