Police have once again been netting links with Morpeth youngsters.

Members of the Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing Team organised a second successful Summer Cup, which saw children aged between 10 and 12 take part in five-a-side football matches.

The event at the Riverside Leisure Centre had other fun activities and plenty of support. It has built upon the popular Easter Shield competitions over the last decade.

Morpeth Community Support Officer (CSO) Paul Moorhead refereed the matches and fellow CSO Susan McCallum assisted in organising the teams. All those involved were given a medal for taking part and the winning team – Bothal Juniors – received a trophy.

Player of the tournament was Orla Callaghan.

Businesses, groups, Bad Apples and the leisure centre were thanked by Neighbourhood Sergeant Sharon Wilmore-Greaves.
