CHILDREN will be swapping the classroom for the kitchen this summer.
Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is offering children’s baking classes every Thursday throughout the school holidays.
The sessions will be run by the centre’s Garden Cafe chef Danielle Millis and will kick off next week with teaching youngsters how to make a smiley-face pizza.
Later workshops will include making hungry hedgehogs, chocolate mice, cheese scones, gingerbread men and chocolate owl cupcakes.
Events Co-ordinator Sarah Tait said: “We are thrilled with how popular these classes are and we hope the sessions will help youngsters discover the joys of cooking and keep them busy during the school summer holidays.”
The first workshop at the Morpeth garden centre, which is situated off the A697, takes place on Thursday, July 26.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and booking is essential. Tickets cost £4.50 per child and are available by calling 01670 513416.
