TWO mini hot air balloons have been seen in the skies of Northumberland to indicate the height of a proposed windfarm.

The blimps were flown on Monday and Tuesday by applicant RES, which is proposing to site five 127.5m tall turbines on land between Netherwitton and Wingates.

English Heritage and Northumberland County Council had requested the blimps to show how the turbines would sit in the landscape and the visual impact on the Grade 1 listed Netherwitton Hall.

To date, 142 letters of objection have been submitted to the windfarm application.
