BETTER access to family legal advice is now available to Morpeth residents.

DAWN Advice, which offers free confidential legal services, has relocated its Family Law Team from its head office in Seaton Burn to Morpeth town centre.

The move, which is supported by the Northern Rock Foundation’s Fresh Ideas Fund, aims to make it easier for people to seek help on issues such as divorce, care work and domestic violence.

The team, including fully-qualified solicitors, legal secretaries and support staff, will be based at DAWN CAB in Tower Buildings, Oldgate, as well as at the Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service in Ashington.

DAWN Chief Executive Liz Chadwick said: “Relocating our Family Law Team into the heart of the Morpeth and Ashington communities will help make quality legal advice even more accessible to people when they need it most.

“Issues relating to family law are extremely complex and often emotions will be running sky high, particularly when children are involved, so it’s essential that matters are resolved as quickly as possible.

“Our improved family law service will allow people to easily benefit from specialist face-to-face advice in order to resolve their problems without the need to travel long distances.”

To contact the team for an initial assessment to see if you are eligible for Legal Aid visit the Morpeth office or call 0300 303 1931. Lines are open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 4.30pm on Friday.
