THE big day is nearing for Morpeth Town Hall as it plans a huge wedding fair.
Wedding belles and beaus will be making their way to the venue on Sunday to find all they need for their perfect day.
There will be displays from wedding specialists, while couples can look around the rooms where ceremonies take place and meet the registrars.
The event has been organised by Morpeth Town Council and Northumberland County Council’s Registration Services team, and follows a smaller fair earlier this year, which attracted the attention of a television crew.
A team from Channel 4 called in as they filmed a Blyth couple for a documentary.
Town Clerk Gillian Turner said: “For the last event we opened it up to Morpeth traders first and once we had all the various wedding services, if we had any gaps we went further afield, but still in the locality. The traders in Morpeth were really pleased that we gave them the opportunity to take the first bite.
“Because we had never done anything like this before we thought we would start off quite small and work our way up. This time we have the Butter Market fully booked, the Corn Exchange and the Ballroom so all the rooms are being used.
“We have everything — hairdressers and make-up people, cars, cakes, flowers, photographers, dresses, bands — we even have a guy who provides mobile crazy golf to keep guests busy while the photographs are being taken.”
County Executive Member for Registration Services Neil Bradbury added: “The wedding fair will give brides and grooms to be, as well as their families and friends, a great opportunity to explore this fantastic wedding and reception venue.
“At the same time they can meet a wide range of local wedding suppliers who will be able to help them with making their wedding day special.”
The fair runs from 10am to 4pm and entry is free.
