WEDDING fever will soon take hold of a Morpeth church.

Final preparations are under way at St Mary’s Church for a free exhibition about the weddings that have taken place there.

Brides have donated their dresses, mementos and photographs of their big day for the display, with some items dating back to 1901.

The exhibition will tie in with the last of summer Saturday open days at the church that aimed to highlight its historic features.

However, a major refurbishment is planned, including the addition of a new entrance, toilet, kitchen facilities and educational space, which will enable even more people to visit the building and learn about its history.

The wedding exhibition runs from Friday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm each day.
