1st Morpeth Boys Brigade

The 1st Morpeth Boys’ Brigade has been out and about, and recently members were delighted to be invited to Morpeth Town Hall to visit the Mayor Alison Byard.

Just over 20 boys and girls from the BB Junior Section went to the building, where they were shown the Mayor’s office and Council Chamber. They saw the treasures and pictures that tell of the town’s history, and enjoyed juice and biscuits afterwards.

BB members were also delighted to meet members of Morpeth Antiquarian Society, who have researched BB lads who fought in the Great War. The Junior Section has been looking at the First World War this term, and was amazed to find that the names of BB lads who fought in the conflict 100 years ago were close to those in the BB today.

Ryan, ten, said: “It made us realise what a big effect there was on the town in 1916.”

BB Leader Clive was grateful to Coun Byard and Angela Teasdale from the Antiquarians for the wonderful and interesting visit.
