COMMUNITY groups in Northumberland could brighten up the winter through a paint re-use scheme.
The Community RePaint initiative collects unwanted left-over re-useable paint from donors to pass on to worthy projects.
Last year it helped more than 17,300 groups and individuals to transform their environment, including a scheme with Heart Research UK to create three healthy heart floors in NCP car parks, with murals encouraging drivers to park on the sixth floor and take the stairs, and a project with Mulberry House in Blackpool to re-decorate the premises for people overcoming alcohol and drug addiction.
The initiative has been sponsored by Dulux since 1993.
Any community organisations or individuals on low incomes in need of paint can find their local scheme online at www.communityrepaint.org or call 0113 200 3959 for more information.
