Burn plan call finds support

TOWN residents are supporting a call to sort out a problematic water course.

Some properties near the Cotting Burn in Morpeth have flooded three times in five years as water during heavy rainfall has spilled out into housing areas.

As a result, the Morpeth Flood Action Group took a petition door-to-door and members gathered 150 signatures of people affected by flooding from the burn.

The document urges the county council and the Environment Agency to provide a scheme which reduces flooding from the Cotting Burn – meeting as a minimum a one-in-100-year return period.
