Residents who wish to attend the dedication services for the new memorial seats in Morpeth on Saturday have the option of using a bus supplied by Arriva.

It will set off from Morpeth Bus Station at 10.10am to head to Morpeth Railway Station for the first service. It will then return to the town centre, so those using the bus can watch the second service in Sanderson Arcade at about 11am.

The benches were installed after Army veteran Dave Herne, who served in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, raised £1,800 over a 12-month period. They remember those from Morpeth who were in the Armed Forces and did not return from conflicts.

The manager of the White Swan pub in Newgate Street, Paul Russell, has agreed to put on a light buffet after the services.
