BUSINESS was booming at the Mayor’s Ball as a traders’ tombola raised £800 for charity.

The money was collected by the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade, which set up the stall and invited local businesses to donate the prizes.

The funds raised will go to the Mayor’s Charity Barnabas Safe and Sound, which is trying to collect enough cash to buy a vehicle in order to expand its work with young people by providing outings and transporting kit to events.

Chamber member Ken Stait, who organised the tombola, presented the cheque to outgoing Morpeth Mayor Phil Taylor.
