A DEVELOPMENT company has signed up to sponsor the Northumberland Business Awards that celebrates and recognises business excellence in the county.

The prestigious awards, organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader, and Tweeddale Press, publisher of the Berwick Advertiser, are now in their sixth year.

Award categories include best business start-up, training award, employer of the year, green business of the year, export award, social enterprise, apprenticeship ambassador, and mid to large, and micro/small business of the year.

The winners will be announced at a special celebration dinner at Linden Hall near Longhorsley on Thursday, November 14.

Entries are now being sought for the competition.

Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, has a focus on economic growth and is bringing a more enterprising and business-like approach to development and regeneration into the county.

Arch has a county-wide remit to deliver development and regeneration and to attract investment.

It brings together services in housing, commercial property, physical regeneration digital change, business growth and housing.

Coun Dave Ledger, Arch Group chairman and deputy leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “Arch are delighted to be sponsoring the awards ceremony and be able to help recognise the many achievements of the outstanding companies that we have in Northumberland and whose valuable work contributes to the Northumberland economy.”

Arch Group managing director Peter McIntyre added: “Arch has been awarded RGF funding to help Northumberland businesses to grow and we have a start-up service for those thinking about setting up a new business venture.

“Northumberland is progressive and enterprising and a fantastic place to do business, we are again delighted to be a sponsor.”

Nominations for the Northumberland Business Awards 2013 must be submitted by Thursday, October 31.

Sponsors for the various categories are also being sought.
