A business group in Morpeth has received a boost in numbers from national companies.

The town branches of Morrisons, Specsavers, Boots Opticians and Barclays and TSB banks (the TSB one was formerly a Lloyds branch), along with the Coca-Cola Enterprises factory in Coopies Lane and Wyevale Garden Centres, which owns Heighley Gate, have joined the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade over the last 12 months.

Chamber spokesman John Beynon said: “We’re delighted that these firms have joined us.

“We believe they have done so after discovering how much work we do for the town every year, including Fair Day and our contributions to the Christmas Lights and bloom competition entries, and seeing how successful the More in Morpeth website has become.”
