Broadband call

COUNTRYSIDE campaigners have called for more access to fast broadband connections before the move to online farm payment applications.

The Country Land and Business Association says that plans announced by the Rural Payments Agency to abolish paper-based Single Payment applications by 2015 will penalise farmers still struggling with slow broadband or dial-up connections.

It is calling on the Government to guarantee a quality broadband service for all before going ahead with the move.
