IT’S all change at Morpeth’s oldest independent opticians’.

For R Green and Partners, which was established in the town in 1933, is getting used to new, bigger premises.

The practice has operated from Newgate Street for the past 54 years, but with business thriving it has moved into a larger unit in Bridge Street.

The move offers increased floor space for additional consulting rooms, as well as the introduction of new units and equipment.

It was made possible after Director Kevin Gray approached banking partner Lloyds TSB Commercial for the necessary finance.

Mr Gray said: “I have been with the business for the last 25 years so I am extremely proud to be leading the expansion of R Green and Partners, a firmly-established local company which has now been running for nearly 80 years.

“The move will not only benefit us as a business, but also the Morpeth community as a whole. By expanding and offering new services, more of those within the local area will have broader access to the eye care that they need.

“The funding and support from Lloyds TSB Commercial was absolutely vital, without which we wouldn’t have been able to expand and launch the new surgery.”

Lloyds TSB Healthcare Relationship Manager Stuart Harper said: “The success of the new surgery launch is testament to Kevin’s hard work and careful planning.

“The new premises are more modern and will allow the business to offer a much-improved service and, in a more central location, R Green and Partners is well placed to attract a wider client base.”
