Care chairman is year’s best

THE boss of a Northumberland residential home has been named Care Personality of the Year.

Dr Chai Patel, who is Chairman of HC-One residential care provider, took the honour at the National Care Awards.

Dr Patel successfully led the transfer of a third of former Southern Cross homes into the new organisation, which provides care to around 10,000 residents in 240 homes nationwide, including Avala Park in Widdrington Station.

The company aims to provide ‘the kindest care in the country’.

The awards aim to showcase best practice across the care sector and the personality award goes to the person judged to have made the single biggest contribution to the sector in the past year.

Dr Patel said: “HC-One has had an extraordinary year due to the hard work and total commitment of each and every one of the staff in the homes, colleagues at Darlington and Leatherhead and the management of the company as a whole.”
