Clean sweep for Christine

AN enterprising Northumberland woman is cleaning up in oven valeting as she celebrates four years in business.

Christine Peel formerly worked as a driving instructor and school secretary in East Boldon, but when she moved to Northumberland she decided it was time for a new venture.

She launched the Ovenu Northumberland franchise so she could be her own boss and work around her family life, and now, four years on, she has served more than 800 clients, from residential and business customers to regular bookings from landlords and letting agents. Her business covers much of the county, including Morpeth and Ponteland.

Mrs Peel said: “Starting my business as the recession hit could have been risky, but I’ve found that people’s make-do-and-mend attitude meant that they are looking to spruce up their old appliances instead of buying new ones.”

Her business is part of a UK-wide operation, made up of more than 100 franchisees.
