THERE was plenty of food for thought at a county catering event.
More than 100 businesses attended Northumberland County Council’s third food event, at the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, to share tips on marketing, hygiene and tourism.
Lord Curry, of Kirkharle, who is chairman of the Royal Veterinary College and has been overseeing the Government’s strategy for sustainable farming and food, gave the opening address.
Seminars provided marketing advice, from Jane Pickett, of Offstone Publishing, tourism tips from Deb Humble, of Country Concierge Services, food hygiene advice from Lisa Kennedy, of Food Tech Solutions and Vivien Montgomery, of the council’s public protection service.
There were also cooking demonstrations by award-winning chef David Kennedy, and plenty of networking opportunities.
Businesses could attend for the whole day, or drop in.
Among those attending was the Northumberland Cheese Company of Blagdon.
