THERE is still time to get your nominations in for the 2012 Northumberland Business Awards.

Nominations have been coming in thick and fast, but the clock is ticking to get entries in for this year’s awards.

Businesses are being urged not to delay and get their entries in ahead of this Sunday’s closing date.

Meanwhile, further support has been given to the annual event with another maker back.

Housing provider Bernicia has been announced as a sponsor for one of the 12 categories.

Andrea Malcolm, director, care and support, at Bernicia, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Northumberland Business Awards for the second successive year, and specifically, the Business in the Community category.

“As a business we have made a significant investment in the county ourselves, through our new headquarters on the Ashwood Business Park in Ashington.

“In addition, we have launched our own apprenticeship programme and are backing a number of community schemes designed to encourage investment and create jobs for local people.

“Although our primary focus is on providing good-quality, affordable housing, we believe successful communities are about far more than bricks and mortar and provide support and investment for many initiatives in the neighbourhoods we serve.”

Organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the Morpeth Herald and sister newspapers the News Post Leader and Northumberland Gazette, along with Tweeddale Press title the Berwick Advertiser, the event will see businesses from across the region battle it out to be victorious in 12 categories, including best business start-up, using local suppliers, training, entrepreneurship, business in the community, technology, environmental awareness, export, and apprenticeships.

This year will also see a new prize added to the mix, the Tourism in Northumberland award.

The winners will be presented during a black-tie dinner at Linden Hall Hotel in Longhorsley, near Morpeth, on Thursday, November 15.
