Development firm signs up to back businesses

A COMPANY helping to bring jobs and funding into the county is to sponsor the fifth Northumberland Business Awards.

Arch, has been established by Northumberland County Council as an arms-length development company to drive capital economic development, physical regeneration projects and business growth within the county.

Based in Ashington, the company delivers services in housing, commercial enterprise facilities and physical regeneration – and one of its first regeneration projects will be developing the new £20million Ashington Leisure and Community facility.

The company owns and operates managed offices and industrial workshops, which include the Arch Enterprise Centre in Ashington and Berwick WorkSpace.

Arch is Northumberland’s largest private landlord and owns more than 700 properties across the county.

Peter McIntyre, Arch group managing director, said: “Arch is proud to be sponsoring the Northumberland Business Awards.

“The awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the success and achievements of locally-based businesses who are making a major contribution to building a successful Northumberland economy.

“We are working with our private and public sector partners to grow Northumberland’s economy and attract new investment to the county.

“We already have many world-class businesses here and we want to recognise and support their excellence and innovation through these awards.”

Organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the Morpeth Herald, the event will see businesses from across the region battle it out for prizes in 12 categories, including best business start-up, using local suppliers, training, entrepreneurship, business in the community, technology, environmental awareness, export, apprenticeships, and tourism.

The awards will be presented at a black-tie dinner at Linden Hall Hotel on Thursday, November 15.
