THREE of the finest Northumberland country house hotels have been placed in the care of a new boss.

Eric Kortenbach has been appointed Operations Director for Eshott Hall, Doxford Hall and Guyzance Hall, as well as Dalhousie Castle near Edinburgh.

He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and has worked for the past seven years as General Manager of the four-star Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle, which has recently been presented with the Cesar award by the Good Hotel Guide. He also saw it awarded UK Hotel of the Year 2008/09 by the AA.

Mr Kortenbach has a degree from the Maastricht School of Hotel Management in the Netherlands and has worked in some of the finest hotels in the country, including the Grosvenor House Hotel and The New Connaught Rooms in London, as well as working for seven years in the Dutch Caribbean.

Of his new position, he said: “This is without doubt a challenging role, however it is also one that brings with it a wealth of opportunities.”

Robert Parker, who owns the four hotels, said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Eric as Operations Director. With over 30 years working in the hospitality industry at the highest level, I know that Eric will bring out the best in all of the properties and the people who work within them.

“He is extremely well thought of within the industry and brings with him a wealth of experience and ideas for taking the individual properties and the business as a whole forward.”
