Hotel in line for top award

A NORTHUMBERLAND hotel boss is hoping to serve up an awards victory after being nominated for a national gong.

William Salve, who works as Restaurant Manager at the Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club near Longhorsley, has been named a finalist in the Outstanding Customer Service category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

The selection follows his regional success in October when Mr Salve won a gold award in the same category.

The 30-year-old, who has worked at Linden Hall for two-and-a-half years, will now go forward to compete for the coveted national title against four businesses from across the country.

He said: “It is a great honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award and I have to thank the team at Macdonald Linden Hall for their continued support as we strive to always provide the high levels of customer service we offer every day.

“My team work extremely hard to deliver a memorable experience for guests so it’s a fantastic achievement to be recognised at a national level.”

Now in their 23rd year, the awards aim to showcase the range of high-quality experiences for visitors in tourism businesses nationwide.

VisitEngland Chief Executive James Berresford said: “I would like to congratulate all those nominated as VisitEngland Awards for Excellence finalists this year. This is no small achievement in a year when we have received a record number of submissions.

“The quality of submissions this year has been outstanding and the Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club can justifiably take credit and pride in earning a place in the top five in its category in England.”

The awards will be presented at a ceremony in Leicester on Tuesday, May 22.
