Reward for apprentice

A YOUNG Morpeth apprentice has been hired to join the ranks of a regional engineering company.

Sixteen-year-old Kyle Duggan has secured the apprenticeship with Pearson Engineering Services, based in Walker.

Along with two other new starters, he will study fabrication and welding full-time at South Tyneside College for his first year of the four-year programme, before joining 23 other apprentices on site to continue his training. The company specialises in high quality precision steel fabrication for the defence and sub-sea sectors and has recently invested in aluminium processing equipment to enable it to target new markets.

Managing Director Roger Anderton said: “Pearson Engineering needs a highly-skilled workforce to meet the stringent UK MoD and international defence standards demanded by our clients.

“Our apprenticeship programme ensures that we can continue to deliver the technical excellence we are renowned for throughout the world.”
