Road works in Morpeth to start on Saturday

THERE will be disruption to journey times in parts of Morpeth when works to a section of road on Dark Lane get underway following a delay.

The resurfacing and road marking, which are being carried out by Tolent on behalf of Dransfield Properties as part of the traffic management scheme linked with the new Morrisons supermarket in Low Stanners, were due to start earlier this month but were delayed because of heavy snow.

Now it has cleared, they will get underway on Saturday and a three-way temporary traffic lights system at the junction connecting Dark Lane, Damside and Staithes Lane is set to be in operation from then until Friday, February 15.

Amanda Holmes from Dransfield Properties said: “The works are expected to last approximately two weeks and we are working with the county council’s highways department to minimise the disruption throughout that period.”
