Seven-day food event on menu

MORE than 40 eateries will be presenting special offers in the first Northumberland Restaurant Week.

The seven-day event takes place from Monday to celebrate the best of the county’s produce and places to eat.

Restaurants, cafes and delis are all taking part in the event, which is being co-ordinated by Your Northumberland Guide.

Venues joining in include Barluga, The Corbridge Larder and La Bodega, in Morpeth. The Linden Tree, at Linden Hall, Matfen Hall, Cafe Lowrey, in Ponteland, The Kitchen Garden, at Meldon Park, The Junction, in Widdrington and the Northumberland Cheese Company at Blagdon.

Organiser Andrew Bothamley said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the quality, originality and value on offer from those taking part.

“We’re really proud to have some of the biggest names in Northumberland food taking part in Restaurant Week, but we’re equally proud to be showcasing the smaller, possibly less well-known foodie heroes around the county.”
