Supermarket takes shape as contract progresses

MORPETH’S new supermarket development is beginning to take shape.
Contractor Tolent Construction is making progress at the site off Dark Lane, which is being developed by Dransfield Properties as a new Morrisons food store.
The contractor has now completed work on the retaining wall base to the Wansbeck elevation of the development and progress on the Cotting Burn elevation has been ongoing over the last week.
Work is also moving forward on the retaining wall columns, the deep drainage is almost complete and the shallow drainage is under way.
Steel work is due to go up in a fortnight. The pad foundations to the store are 90 per cent complete, with the remainder to be done when Morpeth Veterinary Centre moves from Staithes Lane to its new premises at Whorral Bank next month.
The animal hospital facility is well on track for completion, with internal fit-out being carried out to some parts of the building already.
