APARTMENTS are selling fast at a Ponteland retirement complex – despite the fact it is not yet built.
Developer McCarthy and Stone has received 25 off-plan reservations for the 59 apartments at its Henderson Court scheme in North Road.
The interest follows an event at the Britannia Newcastle Airport Hotel earlier this year where more than 200 people were invited to view the plans.
When complete, the assisted living development for the over 70s will offer a range of one and two-bedroom private apartments, communal facilities and support services.
There will also be a waitress-service restaurant and meals can be taken to residents’ apartments if they are unable to visit the eatery due to illness.
Residents will also receive an hour of domestic assistance each week, and they can pay for extra services, including washing, ironing and shopping.
Regional Sales and Marketing Director Fiona Brooks said: “The success we’ve experienced since unveiling our plans for Henderson Court clearly signals a strong demand for this kind of specialist retirement housing provision in the North East.
“Designed specifically to bridge the gap between conventional retirement developments and residential care, assisted living offers a real alternative for retirees who want to maintain their independence, but with the added peace of mind and sense of security that always having a helping hand nearby can offer.”
She added: “Henderson Court is being built with the differing needs of an ageing population in mind and will ultimately provide low-maintenance lifestyles tailored to suit the changing needs of those who live there.
“We have been absolutely delighted that so many people have recognised these benefits and have subsequently started planning for a brighter future at Henderson Court
“We would urge anyone else interested in finding out more about the lifestyles on offer to contact our sales team soon to avoid disappointment.”
