Chefs cook up an Easter treat

BUDDING young chefs from Northumberland can learn how to make a variety of tasty treats for Easter at some cookery sessions.

Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre Chef Danielle Millis is hosting baking workshops for children on selected dates, starting from this weekend.

On Saturday, she will be teaching children how to make a smiley face pizza, on Tuesday they will learn how to make Easter nest cakes and on Thursday it will be chocolate mice.

On Tuesday, April 10, those who attend will be making rocky road cakes, on Thursday, April 12, the children will bake Easter cookies and finally on Saturday, April 14, they will be making chocolate hedgehogs.

Events Co-ordinator Sarah Tait said: “The workshops are a great way for children to learn more about baking.

“Danielle will teach youngsters to bake something new, which they can take home at the end of each session.”

Booking for the workshops is essential. Each session costs £4.50 per child and takes place in the garden centre’s cafe from 11am. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

l CHILDREN will be invited to root out the Easter Bunny at Heighley Gate next week.

A free bunny hunt will run at the outlet near Morpeth for a week from Monday.

Youngsters will be invited to find ten hidden bunnies and if they complete the hunt they will receive a selection of Easter stickers.
