An enterprising woman has taken another step forward with her massage and beauty business.

Claire Blacklock opened the Noir Massage Studio at Castle Square in the summer of 2013 following a few years working for other organisations.

She then decided to relocate to the Watson House Holistic Therapy Centre in Oldgate, but after increasing her customer base further, she started looking for another location.

A suitable one was found in Newgate Street and with a new venue came a change of name to Chic Buddha Massage and Beauty Studio.

Its aim is to provide luxury spa-style treatment at an affordable price.

Miss Blacklock said: “I had a nice unit at Watson House, but I could only be there four days a week and I need a minimum of five days a week because my client base is continuing to grow.

“I searched online for a new place to work from and the one in Newgate Street was a big enough space and it’s in a good town centre location.

“I’ve been able to give it my own stamp. I chose the Chic Buddha name and took a minimalistic approach to the re-decoration to create a peaceful and relaxing environment.”

Techniques on offer include Swedish, hot stones, aromatherapy, deep tissue, bamboo and lava shells. A Fizz Friday deal is also in place for customers.
