THE Duchess of Northumberland enjoyed her Edwardian experience when officially opening a Morpeth tea room.

The team at Curiously Wicked in Sanderson Arcade has transformed a 1,450 sq ft unit above their shop into a service fit for Downton Abbey.

Morning coffee, afternoon tea and light lunches are served by staff in authentic Edwardian costumes. The family firm, run by Krystyna Dodds, has taken on 16 new members of staff.

Her Grace said: “I’m delighted to be sharing this special day with everyone at such an exciting new venture in Morpeth. To have something like this in Northumberland is wonderful.”

The opening coincided with Curiously Wicked’s first birthday at the Arcade – the company opened its chocolate shop last November after building up a strong following at farmers’ markets and fairs across the North East.
