A SHOWCASE event has been held to highlight the benefits of biomass.
The Wood Heating Company invited visitors to Netherwitton Hall to view its newly installed biomass boilers.
Hall owner John Trevelyan offered guests a guided tour of the estate to show the capabilities of the twin wood-chip boilers that he has installed to provide efficient, environmentally-sustainable heating to properties on the estate and to capitalise on the Renewable Heating Incentive scheme.
The programme is currently open to non-domestic customers and offers a cash incentive for the generation of heat from renewable sources. A domestic scheme is set to launch next spring.
Guests also had the opportunity to question Wood Heating Company Commercial Director Simon Cross about the technology.
He said: “We were delighted that so many people came along and, of course, hugely grateful to John and Anne-Marie Trevelyan for allowing us the use of their home for the day.
“The feedback that we have received from the guests has been extremely positive and we are hoping that this event will pave the way for future events.
“It’s great to see the North East leading the way in biomass heating.”
Angus Collingwood-Cameron, of the Northern Farmers and Landowners Group, said: “It was a fascinating visit that demonstrated the real opportunity that exists for landowners in small-scale biomass.”
The company is keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in taking part in any future similar events.
