NORTHUMBERLAND homes and businesses reliant on oil for heating and hot water need to be prepared in case the snow returns.
The warning comes from F Peart & Co, which supplies oil across the whole of the North East.
The company has launched its winter push encouraging customers, particularly those based in remote rural communities, to get their orders in early and avoid last year’s nightmare scenario, when the weather made deliveries unsafe and in some cases impossible.
Laura Jackson, Business Manager at F Peart & Co, said: “Oil users need to take note of the last two years and ensure they are comfortably ahead of the game, as it is highly likely we will see the same pattern of weather this year.
“Our local team recognises the needs of these communities and understands more than most the importance of having the right supply at the right time.
“What customers need to remember is that driving any vehicle containing fuel, never mind a heavy tanker on icy roads, is a dangerous task and despite the committed efforts of our staff and drivers, some situations — like those we experienced last year — are just too unsafe for both us and our customers.
“Even when the snow finally melted last year and we were able to deliver, we had such a backlog of orders that we had to prioritise those in most need which was a very difficult task.”
Winter and general inquiries can be made to the company Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5pm, by calling 01429 852100.
