A MORPETH-BASED accountant is delighted to have reached a significant career milestone.
Tait Walker partner Gordon Goldie has worked with upwards of 5,000 companies since his first case in 1983. They have ranged in size and complexity, from large corporate insolvencies to personal bankruptcy, across a variety of sectors.
Past president and current member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ North East branch, today he heads up the firm’s 14-strong corporate recovery team, which provides insolvency advice on all manner of formal and informal matters.
Mr Goldie, who works in Tait Walker’s Morpeth and Gosforth offices, said: “It’s been an inspiring and sometimes challenging 30 years – especially working with companies which are dealing with financial difficulty, however this of course comes hand in hand with the territory.
“The past few years have been particularly fraught for UK businesses in general and the North East economy in particular has been hit hard, but knowing I have safeguarded someone’s job is beyond rewarding and is what keeps me getting out of bed each day – that and never knowing when the phone will ring next, which certainly keeps me on my toes.”
In addition to his role as partner, he is also responsible for the HR department and is committed to implementing its apprenticeship training programmes across its three offices.
