PARTY animals across the globe can find all they need in a one-stop shop as a Morpeth business expands.
Last Night, based in Bridge Street, began life in Newcastle 13 years ago with two or three members of staff selling stag and hen weekends.
As the business grew, it relocated to Rothbury and in 2008 began selling accessories for ‘last night of freedom’ parties and events.
Initially, the store operated from a small 500 sq ft warehouse, but two years ago it moved to larger premises in Morpeth’s Coopies Lane Industrial Estate, complementing an office base in the town centre.
Now the business employs 15 people and it is looking to further expand with the launch of The Party King online shop.
Marketing Officer Catherine McQuillan said: “We have expanded before and now we are looking to expand again.
“We have seen the success of Kate Middleton’s family with their website so with The Party King we thought why not?
“It will sell everything to do with parties. We have got lots of products already and we are going to be adding more so that we will offer everything you could possibly want — costumes, hats, tableware — anything for any kind of party.
“We have seen the success of the stag and hen shop so we thought we would offer one for everything.”
The company, which now has 200 different products in stock, is also seeking a bigger warehouse of around 15,000 sq ft.
“Our warehouse is full to the brim at the moment so we are currently looking for a bigger one. We are desperate to find somewhere suitable in the North East, preferably somewhere that is local to everyone,” said Ms McQuillan.
The business has recently signed a sponsorship deal with local rugby team Ringers RFC, and both the Sevens and Touch teams will play the new season in shirts adorned with The Party King logo.
Last Night owner Matt Mavir said: “I’m super excited that I can now use my 12 years’ experience in the stag and hen industry to help everyone party harder.”
