A MORPETH eatery has taken top honours at the first Sanderson Arcade Awards.
The Corbridge Larder was named Retailer of the Year at the ceremony, which was held at the centre’s Barluga restaurant last week.
The award, which was sponsored by Design Two, was voted for in an online poll. JoJo Maman Bebe came second and Pinky’s Nail Boutique was third.
Seven awards were presented in different categories, with businesses putting forward nominations for a shortlist. A panel of independent judges, including Mary Portas Business Master Class trainer George Elliott, decided the winners.
Arcade Manager Medi Parry said: “We know there are some great companies here, working hard day in and day out to deliver excellent customer service, and the awards gave us a great opportunity to reward some of them.
“It was a fantastic night and a real celebration. We’re already making plans for next year’s awards.”

Store Manager of the Year: Michael Dickson, Barluga Morpeth; Highly Commended Grace Rodger, Energie Fitness. Green Store of the Year: Marks and Spencer. Customer Service Team of the Year: The Body Shop; Highly Commended JoJo Maman Bebe. Shining Star: Sarah Silcock, The Corbridge Larder; Highly Commended Gordon Hakin, Sanderson Arcade. Community Engagement: Marks and Spencer. The Warm Welcome Award: Barluga Morpeth.
