JOB hunters are being given the chance to train as emergency gas engineers.
Northern Gas Networks, which employs more than 1,000 people across the North East, northern Cumbria and most of Yorkshire, plans to recruit 16 apprentices to become first call operatives — the first workers on the scene when people report the smell of gas to the national emergency number.
The two-year apprenticeship will combine college and on-the-job training, leading to an NVQ and a guaranteed job.
Applications should be submitted by Friday, March 25. For more information visit www.northerngasnetworks.co.uk
