Hotel claims rare second Rosette for food and service

A LUXURY hotel has taken dining to a new level to be rated among the best in the country.

Eshott Hall Head Chef Chris Wood and his team have gained a rare second AA Rosette for fine dining and service.

Only ten per cent of restaurants in the UK are considered worthy of at least one Rosette and to achieve the award they have to stand out in their area, food should be prepared with skill and precision, and chefs must pay attention to the quality and choice of ingredients.

Mr Wood is a champion of local produce and where possible sources fruit and vegetables from Eshott’s own kitchen garden. Lamb, beef and game come from nearby estates and fish is from local shores. The style is British food with a contemporary twist.

Mr Wood said: “With the support of a great team of chefs and restaurant staff, since we opened Eshott Hall we have worked tirelessly to create the perfect ambience and food for our magnificent Georgian surroundings.

“This award from the AA demonstrates that Eshott Hall is one of the most memorable places for fine dining in Northumberland and it is a real honour.”

The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, with a choice of table d’hote and a la carte. Morning coffee, light lunch and afternoon tea are served daily in the Drawing Room or Library.

General Manager Mark Alderson said: “We are naturally delighted that Chris and his team’s hard work have been acknowledged with this award. We hope that with the addition of the second rosette people from and visiting Northumberland will come and enjoy dining at Eshott Hall.”
