Investment is on hold

Businesses in the North East are holding back on investment over uncertainty about Scottish independence, a survey has suggested.

The North East Chamber of Commerce reports that 12 per cent of companies that responded to the survey are putting off investment ahead of the referendum.

Seventy-six per cent would not change their business strategy for an independent Scotland, but 14 per cent think it could have a negative impact on sales and orders, and nine per cent think it could have an adverse effect on recruitment.
