MP urges businesses to bid for cash

A NORTHUMBERLAND MP is urging businesses across the county to bid for a share of the Regional Growth Fund.

Round four of the Government initiative will provide £350million worth of investment to create jobs and growth in England and Sir Alan Beith hopes that many local firms will put forward applications.

The earlier stages have helped 180 projects to get started.

The Berwick-upon-Tweed MP said: “Already the Regional Growth Fund has made a real difference in Northumberland. For example, Tharsus in Blyth was awarded a grant of £690,000 from round two towards a total £3million investment to refurbish its site with new technology and equipment. I will be working with business in Northumberland to ensure we get the best out of the Regional Growth Fund and create sustainable jobs now and in the future.”

The deadline for applications is March 20. For more information on how to apply, visit www.gov.uk/understanding-the-regional-growth-fund
