AN accountancy practice has added to its portfolio by opening up a new office in Morpeth.

Peter Weldon & Co, which has been based in the centre of Ashington for more than 20 years, now has an additional facility to accommodate an increase in new business.

The new location in Appleby House, Castle Square, will allow Mr Weldon’s experienced team of tax specialists, financial advisors and corporate finance consultants to branch out. It marks a £150,000 investment into the long-term goals of expanding the company’s operations.

“We’ve outgrown our base in Ashington and the new office in Morpeth allows our staff much more flexibility in dealing with the growing list of clients,” said the owner and managing director.

“It will also assist us further in developing new lines of business for the practice.

“The opening of an additional workspace for our staff, the first time we have expanded from our HQ in Ashington, is an exciting new direction for us.

“And it’s a proud moment for me personally to be officially present in Morpeth, which is such a vibrant town.”

The company’s growth was boosted recently by the appointment of accounting and corporate finance specialist David Fish, who had spent more than ten years at RMT in central Newcastle.

He was hired as a senior partner, alongside Mr Weldon and tax specialist David Hunter.
