Building society staff in Morpeth have been cashing in for charity by getting on their bikes.

Staff from Newcastle Building Society in the Market Place joined teams from 19 other branches and two head offices to cycle the 3,656km distance of the famous Tour De France bike race between them on exercise bikes.

The challenge, which took place on Tuesday, was part of the society’s Cornerstone of the Community campaign to support local good causes and charities.

The Morpeth team raised funds for Henry Dancer Days, which aims to relieve hardship for families with children suffering from osteosarcoma, a common bone cancer.
