Team stay top of financial advisor league for region

STAFF at the Morpeth office of a regional business have contributed to it being the leader of the pack when it comes to making major deals.

Financial information provider Experian Corpfin has released its annual independent survey, reporting on the volumes of transactions with a value of £500,000 and above advised on nationally and by region during 2013.

And Tait Walker’s corporate finance team was first in the North East after completing 13 of these deals (21 deals in total). The success marks a four-year winning streak for the company.

A highlight of the year was securing backing from two international investors for solicitors’ firm Winn Group in a deal worth £80million in September. This has enabled the firm to roll out its services nationally – creating lots of employment opportunities for the region going forward.

Tait Walker partner Michael Smith said: “It’s no coincidence that the volume of deals saw a 22 per cent increase across the region from 2012. We’ve worked hard to ride on this wave of increasing levels of confidence within management teams.

“We have continued to invest in our corporate finance team throughout poor economic conditions and now we’re beginning to see signs of recovery, making this achievement even more rewarding.

“We expect recent figures to act as a catalyst to spur continued investment in our region and encourage the manufacturing, engineering and renewables sectors to pick up pace throughout 2014.”

The independent accountancy practice employs 130 staff across its offices in Morpeth, Newcastle and Tees Valley.
