A Morpeth resident is hoping that going retro for her new business will prove popular.

And the www.retrokids.com one stop shop for eye-catching, quirky and vintage products for young children has been highlighted as having the potential to succeed by a well-known businesswoman.

When mother-of-two Joanne Croot, who lives in Loansdean, found out she was losing her job due to large scale redundancy, she decided to turn disaster into an opportunity and fulfil her dream of starting her own business.

Her product range so far includes clothing, accessories, gifts, toys, wall art, soft furnishings and greeting cards.

After launching the website on April 18, she was delighted to be selected by Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, as one of her Women on Wednesday (#WOW) winners.

She added: “It’s important to me that all the high quality products I choose from Britain and abroad are ethically produced.”
