A new tourism chief has been appointed.

David Hall, a long-serving board member, has become Chairman of Northumberland Tourism.

He takes over from Kate Priestley, who oversaw national advertising campaigns, the launch of a new website and awards success for several tourism businesses.

She was thanked for her work by the partnership board.

In his day job, Mr Hall is Head of Leisure, Strategy and Transformation at Northumbrian Water and was the driving force in establishing Kielder Water and Forest Park as England’s top Tourism Experience in 2013.

He said: “Northumberland Tourism is successfully attracting large numbers of visitors to our county that spend significant amounts with our tourism businesses. I’m looking forward to working closely with Northumberland County Council and our partners to attract more worldwide visitors and create jobs and prosperity in Northumberland.”
