Budding entrepreneurs can get a taste of running an outdoor stall in town centres across Northumberland through a national initiative.
For the third year running, the county council will be taking part in the Love Your Local Market campaign, which runs from May 14 to 28.
Anyone can be considered for a trial stall for a fee of just £10, including high school or college students with a good business idea, those who have just started to trade for a living and retired people looking for a small business interest.
A limited number are being made available at markets in Morpeth and Ponteland as well as seven other towns.
Andy Rutherford, the council’s head of highways and neighbourhood services, said: “The Love Your Local Market campaign is a great experience for residents to be part of and the council is pleased to be supporting it for the third year running.
“We are always keen to welcome new traders to our markets and the campaign is also about celebrating the role of markets in sustaining town centres and communities.”
Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis and applicants must not have traded on a Northumberland market during the preceding 12-month period.
Those interested can call markets manager Keith Gray on 01670 625577.
