Budding business owners can try to trade for a tenner as part of a market initiative.
The Love Your Local Market campaign is running across the country this month to encourage people to find out more about what’s available.
It aims to help shoppers to re-discover their local market, but also assist would-be stallholders in making a start on their business ideas.
And in Morpeth, entrepreneurs are being offered the opportunity to take a stall for £10.
The offer is open to new start-up businesses and those traders who have not attended a market in Northumberland in the past 12 months.
Northumberland County Council Head of Highways and Neighbourhood Services Andy Rutherford said: “This is a fantastic campaign, which we are very pleased to be involved with in Morpeth and we look forward to welcoming some new traders to the market.
“Love Your Local Market is a great way of getting involved and letting people know about the markets in their own town, encouraging them to us for the first time, or indeed re-discover, their local market.”
Banners have been installed to promote the initiative and market officials are hoping for a good turn-out at Morpeth Market on Wednesday.
Morpeth Market is managed by a partnership of Northumberland County Council and Sanderson Arcade, working closely with Morpeth Town Council, the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and other local organisations.
It takes place every Wednesday, while a Farmers’ Market is held on the first Saturday of every month. The markets have recently been re-launched with new stalls.
